  Inauguration of the "Prince Raimondo Auditorium"

Inaugurated on Saturday 22 Sept., the Prince Raimondo Auditorium (brochure) is the result of the restoration of the former stables of the Castle of Duino thanks to the generous funding  of the Fondo Trieste.
   
On Saturday morning, Prince Carlo Alessandro della Torre e Tasso unveiled a plaque sculpted in Karst stone in memory of his father, Prince Raimondo. The new Prince Raimondo Auditorium was created through the restoration of the former stables of the Castle of Duino.
  
The Fondo Trieste financed the work which amounted to € 534.000. This restoration permitted the recovery of a building of 1994 sq.mt.;

581 sq. mts. of which are usable space, at a cost of 919 € per usable mt.
 
The project was done by the architect Guglielmo Volpi. Mr Volpi illustrated the various phases of the restoration with a slide show during the ceremony during which all the local companies involved in the work were mentioned.

Introductory remarks were made by President Michele Zanetti and the Mayor of Duino, Giorgio Ret. Walter Godina, of the Provincial government expressed his pleasure in the use of the Fondo Trieste funding for this purpose. The current President of the  Fondo Trieste is Bassa Poropat.

Prince Carlo Alessandro spoke about his father, about his eclectic artistic interests and his passion for music.

The Prefect of Trieste, Giovanni Balsamo, expressing his appreciation of the restoration, said “Being here today  in the midst of the college students means realizing that they are the most relevant answer to the demands of today’s globalized world. They represent integration; the instrument through which the system may be corrected thanks to the experience of living together in harmony that they demonstrate.

After the official speeches, music took center stage. Three students Inesa Gegprifti (Albania), Nomin Samdan (Mongolia) e Valdoné Rakauskaite (Lituania) played Grieg, Ravel, Chopin and Poulenc on the piano: a Fazioli instrument kindly offered by the Cassa di Risparmio di Udine and Pordenone Foundation.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of the Region FVG and the Municipality of Duino-Aurisina, together with the sponsorization of Arcus Cultura nel Mondo and the CRTTrieste Foundation.
