inauguration of the photo exhibition put up by the United World College of the Adriatic in
cooperation with the International Centre of Photography.

Ples: Ludwig Boltzmann plaque
|
On Monday 4th September 2006 at noon, there has been a ceremony
at the former Hotel Ples. The Headmaster of UWCAD Marc Abrioux and the Mayor of Duino Giorgio Ret
unveiled the plaque in memory of the Austrian Physician Ludwig Boltzmann (1844-1906).

Redi Llupa concert in Gorizia

The Adriatic College 2nd year student Redi Llupa, from Albania, has performed a piano recital at
the Gorizia Auditorium at 20.00 on
Saturday 2nd September, in the framework of the
concert-meeting “Clerici Vagantes, or the Courage of Freedom and the Pleasure for Discovery”. This
event is organised by the Institute of International Sociology Gorizia (ISIG) and by the
University of Trieste, under the aegis of the Municaplity of Gorizia.

The College Choir
|
|
First Commitments of the Choir and the Musicians
On Friday 8th September the College Choir, together with some 50 students, took part in the
inaugural evening of the “Wine of Peace 2006”. This event was held at the Teatro Comunale of
Cormons; the evening started with three pieces of international folklore.
On Saturday 16th September at 20.00 the choir will be introducing a social event arranged by
ISAS at the Caffè degli Specchi in the Piazza Unità in Trieste.
On Friday 22nd September at 22.00 at the Auditorium of the Museo Revoltella there will be the
closing ceremony of the international poetry prize “Castello di Duino”, with the Choir performing
during the prize-giving part of the ceremony.. It will be singing two songs, and the first year
Albanian pianist Inesa Gegprifti will be playing together with the Trieste violinist Furio Belli.
On Saturday 23rd September the Choir is having another commitment at Aurisina Stazione, in
the hall of the Dopolavoro Ferroviario, on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the twinning
between the Italian Pensioners’ Union and its Istrian opposite number “SUH” from Roc (Pinguente).
On Sunday 24th September at 10.00, in the framework of the activities of the Società
Filologica Friulana, the multiethnic choir will be singing in friulano “Il ciant de filologiche
furlane”.
As far as music and singing linked with acting are concerned, a group of 5 students will
contribute to the musical part of the theatre show “Ai confini del sogno”. This event, created by
Daniela Morelli, is produced by the students of the Liceo Tito Livio of Milan and will be performed
in a theatre on the shores of the Meina Lake in the Province of Novara between 21-24 settembre.

The Adriatic College ex student from Zambia Chikoti Mebenge (2001/2003), now studies at
Wellesley College in Boston. (October 2006 issue)
She is one of the Top 10 College Women selected by "Glamour" magazine (October 2006
issue).

21st September Peace Day
|
|
As part of the celebrations for "International Peace Day" the
United World College of the Adriatic was invited to take part in a meeting organised by the local
UNESCO Club at Palazzo Florio in Udine. Dr. Valentina Bach, in charge of European and innovative
projects, spoke for the College and introduced the testimony of a group of students regarding "The
Culture of Peace in Different Social Environments", which was the topic of the meeting
Other speakers, co-ordinated by Beny Angioli, were Renata Capria D'Aronco President of the
Udine UNESCO Club, Angelo Rossi councillor and Marco Quai President of the Udine City Council.

The "Hazel Marie Cole Award"

The seventh edition of prize-giving ceremony of the "Hazel Marie
Cole Award" (www.premiobonta.it) took place on Wednesday
27th September, in the Lecture Room of the United World College of the Adriatic.
