On Thursday 7th September in Duino, at the “Erich Hartmann” Arts Centre, there will be the
inauguration of the photo exhibition put up by the United World College of the Adriatic in
cooperation with the
International Centre
of Photography.
Ths appointment should be sent in the context of the second edition of “Triestèfotografia”, a
Festival organised by the Cultural Association “Juliet” of Trieste, which during the month of
September will involve several exhibition venues with a series of exhibitions and events concerning
the language of photography and of visual communication.
The Duino exhibition is named “Wonder and Dream: a Space for the Soul” and includes 300 black
and white works, both in silver salt and digital print, of different sizes. Here is the explanation
given by the Adriatic College Photography Coordinator, Angelo Friolo: “Man and mankind are always
the core interest of Photography students at the United World College. Man causes wonder in
everyday life, and leads the photographer to represent the features which strike him, but also to
go beyond realism into oneiric representation. The pictures on show display range from realistic to
abstract potential”.
Photography activity at the College has been going on for almost 25 years, and the students,
under the supervision of their instructor, obtained several awards, and exhibited their works,
among others, at the University of Florence, at the Bocconi University, at the Castle of Verginese
(Ferrara), at the Castle of Gorizia, at the ISAS in Miramare, at the Sala Comunale d’Arte of Muggia
and at the the memorial chapel of the Liceo Dante Alighieri.
In this framework, there will also be a personal exhibition by Angelo Friolo “Metamorphosis”,
images printed with pigments on art paper instead of traditional silver salts.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Friday 8 - Friday 15 September from 10-12 and
16-20.
