World Cultures: trip to Rome

On Thursday the 18th of January, a group of 25 second years visited Rome on the World Cultures trip with Henry Thomas leading them through one of the most visited culturally and historically important cities on the planet. Two Graduates excellent pianists

The Adriatic College graduate Luis Pares (1997/1999),from Venezuela, performed a piano recital at the Adriatic College Lecture Room in Duino at 17.00 on Saturday 27th January . He played Spanish composers, and in particular De Falla and Ginastera. He lives, plays and performs in London.

Gjergji Gaqi (2001/2003), from Albania, earned the Colby College Music Department Prize in 2003-04, an honor to go along with several national competitions he won in his country.

Westminster College scholarships

Two Adriatic College ex-students received their IB Diploma and have been accepted at the Westminster College located in Fulton, Missouri (U.S.A.).
The two boys are: Mustafa Bdr Al Deen (Iraq 2006/2006) and Aluat Hamudi Abdel Fatah (Algeria 2004/2006).

Honour, Respect, Remember

January 26th 2007, Friday was the Holocaust Remembrance Day. Jewish students hosted a ceremony open to all, in the lecture room. Coupled with stories of their grandparents and close relatives, they sang songs to honour the victims, and showed images of, the Holocaust. The session was touching and concluded with the simple symbolism of lighting remembrance candles.
