"THE COMMITMENTS" an adaptation from Roddy Doyle.

On 20th & 21st March a group of students performed their own adaptation of Roddy Doyle's book "The Commitments".

After months of preparation the day arrived and the air was one of general splendour and excitement. The play was performed at a theatre in Monfalcone, complete with costumes, sets, lights and above all, music. Most spectators agreed that having only two shows was a pity. Even though the Duinese and other general public were invited to attend, the audience consisted mainly of wowed students, staff, and school facilitators.

The lively musical about a grass roots soul band was cast by a diverse group of students and directed by Charlotte, our vibrant and well-loved English teacher. One student commented, "I can't believe how professional it all was, I just wanted to get up and dance!" And indeed, dance the audience did. Both performances ended off with a lively reprise of "Mustang Sally" which got the audience on their feet and cheering.
