"Absolute Poetry" 2nd edition

Poetry is back in Monfalcone, more lively and provoking than
ever (Lello Voce).
"The International Verse Factory, Absolute Poetry" will be a four-day immersion in the
variety, beauty and ambiguity of modern language in its artistic form.
From 21st to 24th of March 2007, Monfalcone will host contemporary poets from, Slovenia,
France, U.K., Spain, Senegal, Mali, South Africa as well as famous Italian ones such as Edoardo
Sanguinetti, Patrizia Valduga and Aldo Nove. There will be cultural meetings, debates and poetry
sessions all over the city to awake poetic sensibility and to promote poetry among the younger
generations.
Some UWC students have already had a chance to give a taste of their own countries' poetic
production and music to the population in Monfalcone. In a nice and unexpected overture, a group of
us performed with Stefano Sacher, the music and drama teacher, in various cafés, tea rooms and
squares in the centre of Monfalcone on Sunday 18th March. We tried to capture people’s curiosity
and built a particularly enjoyable atmosphere reading poems in different languages, accompanied by
cello, violin, flute or piano. For Monfalcone it was a first “bite” of the Absolute Poetry
week.
