College Expectations

Students must understand that they have been given a scholarship awarded in competition with many other deserving applicants.

Acceptance of the scholarship carries many obligations - the readiness to participate with enthusiasm, integrity, energy and determination in all aspects of the College programme, and to dedicate oneself with lifelong idealism to the aims of the United World Colleges.

All students are expected to attend those events which are organized on a College-wide basis. These include, but are not limited to: tutorial group and College meetings, College Assemblies, Conferences and International Affairs presentations, Residence meetings.

Students prepare for the full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate.

The scholarship is awarded for the full two years. Progression into the second year is dependent upon a satisfactory performance in all aspects of college life and upon clear commitment to UWC principles and ideals. It may, in exceptional circumstances and following clearly expressed warnings, be withdrawn for unsatisfactory performance or behaviour.

Sincerity, participation and commitment are fundamental criteria. Students must accept many challenges of a kind they have not previously encountered.

To encourage personal growth and responsibility, many decisions about their day-to-day life are entrusted to the students. Self-discipline and social maturity are fundamental.
